Questions regarding transportation

Is there a website that shows what the bus routes are? Also if I wanted to walk around St. George right after the airport, can we put our luggage someplace and take a taxi or bus back and forth? Where do I find the ferry schedules? How long does it take to go back and forth, say on a scooter from one end of the island to the other?

BERMUDA BUS INFO--Route Diagram, Schedule-Fares, Avg.Run Times,etc--

There are no Left Luggage facilities at the airport. I suppose if you really wanted to....you could put your luggage into a taxi, pre-pay the driver whatever fare he thought was right and have him/her deliver your luggage to your guest accommodations....while you took a bus to Saint George's. No Transportation Passes are available at the airport, so you'd need EXACT CHANGE in either US or Bermudian COINS ONLY for the bus fare. But not really a practical '..plan..' huh ??

The driving distance by road from King's Square in Saint George's at Bermuda's far east-end to the Dockyard complex at Bermuda's far west-end will be approx. 26-to-28 miles (depending on route) In practical terms, is should probably take 70-80 minutes. to cover the distance aboard a motorscooter....assuming you don't stop a few dozen times along the way to fill up the memory card in your digital camera.

In trying to '..gues-timate..' the amount of time it matake to get from Point A to Point B in Bermuda, you can use (you'll have to 'tinker' a bit) the AVERAGE RUN TIMES for the various public bus routes as a 'rough guide'.

If your primary mode of personal transortation will be rental motorscooter(s) while in Bermuda; there a a few things that you should carry with you in the underseat storage compartment of your scooter--

1.) inexpensive rain poncho(s)...of the Dollar Store sort..in the event of local showers.

2.) a spare copy of the BERMUDA--Handy Reference Map

3.) a copy of the BERMUDA BUS & FERRY SCHEDULE...for 'guestimating' travel times and ferry schedules...for an additional fare, you can roll scooters aboard most runs for the BLUE, ORANGE & GREEN route ferries.

4.) a rag/washcloth/hand towel...to wipe down/dry damp wet scooter saddles in the event of shower or evening dew (a wet backside is seldom a chic '..look..' for most)

Whe riding scooters, it's usually best to carry purse or camera bag in the underseat storage compartment...and make certain that items carried in the rear storage basket are well secured with the bungee/shock cord and covered with something....this to prevent items bouncing out the basket while riding...or...being '..lifted..' by the occasional petty-thief-of-opportunity riding by....and... ***NEVER***NEVER***NEVER*** leave any valuables in the underseat storage compartment of an un-attended motorscooter. The locks on these compartments can be easily '..popped..'..in something less than the proverbial 'New York minute'.
