Bermuda is NEVER "..a bad idea..". But bear in mind that Bermuda is NOT a '..tropical..' island destination in the geographic sense....but rather '..semi-tropical..'. Though it benefits from the warmer temperatures of the Gilf Stream, it is located approx 650 miles due west of the Carolinas. So, February will be it's Winter/Off Season.

You can check monthly/seasonal Air and Ocean Water temperature averages at--

http://www.weather.bm/data/climatology.html

As a general rule, waether in February will be cool--but comfortable--for general touring, golf, tennis, swimming in heated pools, etc. BUT...is probably won't be warm enough for swimming in the ocean (unless you're a resident of '..the Great White North..'and then it's just like the ocean along the coast of Maine--one of the few places where shore-front boutiques sell fur-lined bikinis--in July).

I've been to Bermuda twice in a February - the tourism association used to offer incentives during this 'shoulder season' month - one year (1998?) if the temperature was less than 70 F degrees, then tourists got free meals and substantial discounts on those days. Later, in 2002, certain hotels subsidized flights (2 for 1 flight deals) for the month of February.

First time I went, it rained alot. But the temperature was at least 70 degrees. The second time was early February and watching the temps online hover around 65 degrees, I was worried and packed warmer clothes. But we had great sunny weather in the 80's the entire week! We only waded in the water - it wasn't ridiculously cold though.

We've been to Bermuda many times in Oct., Dec/Jan and once in March. We wouldn't go again between New Year's and June. March was rainy and chilly -- temps in high 60s. The ocean temp is already down to 68 or so in Dec. and any swimming you do would need to be in a heated pool. If you still go, take books and stay somewhere with a TV.
