Great, inexpensive seafood

Looking for any favorites for good, but relatively inexpensive (realizing that prices are pretty high there), seafood places. They don't have to be fancy, mom and pop or roadside/beachside is fine, just want somewhere that the fish is fresh and tasty.

Thx

There are no "..roadside/beachside...." '..joints..' in Bermuda (though you can get a pretty good fried fish sandwich at some local lunch wagons). Perhaps the last seafood '..joint..' in Bermuda was Dennis' Hideaway, hidden (no pun intended) out on Saint David's Island, at Bermuda's far east-end,...but that's been closed for a couple/few years now....and even when it was open, it was hard to find...and there was no guarantee that it's be open if your did manage to find it. But after the original '..Dennis..' died his son, Sea Egg (not even Dickens could come up a name like that), ran the place for a while before packin' it in to go fishin'.

For good, moderately priced (for Bermuda) seafood, try---

FREEPORT SEAFOOD RESTAURANT-- http://freeportseafood.com/ --out near the entrance to the Royal Naval Dockyard complex, at Bermuda's far west-end.

For perhaps the best seafood menu in Bermuda, then try the BARRACUDA GRILL-- http://www.barracuda-grill.com/dinner.html --up on Burnaby Street (above the Hog Penny Pub) in downtown Hamilton.

Thanks for the suggestions on proper restaurants - I'm sure we'll try one of these places when we get down there in a couple of weeks.

one of our favorites here in Dockyard is big eats, on the roadside just before the main entrance to Dockyard, blue building next to the bus depot. not many people at all go to Freeport for anything nowadays.

the village cafe in Somerset village, pink building on the roadside does a really good fish sandwich as well. a little further down is Somerset country squire, probably the best quality/price combo for seafood in a restaurant setting in Bermuda.

on the roadside on middle road just east of waterlot inn in Southampton is wok express, everything they do there is good. further east next door to Heron bay plaza is island cuisine, one of the few places that does a really good traditional Bermuda Sunday breakfast of codfish and potatoes.

I'm reminded of the Yogi Berra-ism...'..Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded..'.

sweetmer - no problem!

kdk - that's amusing, especially since Freeport hasn't been crowded since the 90s.

I agree that the Freeport doesn't seem to be as busy as some of the other restaurants but we have never had a bad meal there. What do you think that the problem is, Sonny?

How about having some sea food at Harrys at the Waterfront at the Miles Market, on the Waterfront Marina on Hamilton Harbour?
