Indigo and Rustico are both popular restaurants in Flatts Village

http://www.bermuda-dining.com/Rustico.html

The fishing village is the home of helmet diving and has the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo close by.

The only commercial guest accommodations in the Village of Flatts is:

BRIGHTSIDE GUEST APARTMENTS--

http://www.brightsidebermuda.com/home/

...and a bit to the east (approx. 1 mi.), along the north shore--

DOMAINE DECUTO Guest Apartments--

http://www.domainedecouto.com/

There are some charming and pleasant private rental cottages/apartments located a bit to the south, along the Harrington Sound Road (approx. ½ mi.) available through the BERMUDA RENTALS agency (C22 & C22a )-- http://www.bermudarentals.com/

There are three(3) public bus routes and one(1) sub-route that pass through Flatts (#3, #10 & #11--Hamilton-Saint George's & #3--Hamilton-Grotto Bay) for relatively good public transportation connections.

For conveniences, there's the MARKET PLACE--Shelley Bay supermarket-- www.marketplace.bm/marketplace/locations.jsp --located approx. 1½-1¾ to the east (heading toward Saint George's) along the North Shore Road....and there may still be a BLEVIN'S mini-mart/convenience store a bit to the west, along the Middle Road (at: Paradise Lane).

For restaurants there's RUSTICO'S-- bermuda-dining.com/Bermuda_Dining/Rustico.ht… --and INDIGO-- bermuda-attractions.com/bermuda_0002bf.htm

The only attraction in Flatts will be the BERMUDA AQUARIUM & ZOO-- bermuda-dining.com/Bermuda_Dining/Rustico.ht…

The nearest beach will be SHELLEY BAY-- bermuda-attractions.com/bermuda_00000e.htm --located approx. 1 mile to the east along the North Shore Road.

The Village of Flatts will be approx. 20-25 mins via bus to downtown Hamilton and approx. 40-45 mins from downtown Saint George's.

... The Domaine DeCouto looks particularly interesting ... I can't seem to find any reviews however. Does anyone have experience staying at this beautiful place?

The only time that I've been back into DOMAINE DECOUTO was a few years ago...and then only to ride in and poke around the grounds. I wasn't able speak to the owners or any guests and didn't see any of the apartment interiors--no one around. Even though it was a grim, gray day (as I recall) the property was pleasant and pretty much as pictured, with wonderful north shore views, that would only improve with sunshine and clear skies.

It's not the least bit unusual for there to be no past guest reviews for this property. As with many (perhaps most) local guesthouses, it is a small with only a couple/few rooms, and will see a relatively small number of guests in any given year. Relatively few visitors write and submit reviews to TA...even on Bermuda's largest and best know resort/hotels.

Try contacting the owners DIRECTLY for any additional information you may require. But...for what it's worth to you, I've very seldom encountered '..stinkers..' in Bermuda over the decades...mostly only those properties that are larger or smaller and offer more or less amenities and conveniences, for more or less cost....dependent on your own personal preferences, priorities, special needs and budget..

There's a cottage called Bird's Nest in the North Shore area which I always think looks interesting. Available through www.bermudagetaway.com

The section of rockbound north shore in Hamilton Parish--from Bailey's Bay-to-Shelley Bay--is one of the most interesting in Bermuda. Even if you don't stay here...find the time to walk the section of the BERMUDA RAILWAY TRAIL along this stretch. It's one of the trail's most interesting section, with wonderful north shore ocean views all along the route...running mostly right along the north shore oceanfront and in a few places, over it. For some reason, this walk seems to be 'better' from east-to-west.
