Possible Makeover for Dockyard..

bermudasun.bm/Content/…78000

I think this is not at all a good architectural fit for the Victualling Yard. I am also not sure a concert venue and condo hotel would work too well together. As a frequent visitor to Bermuda, is this really a good spot for a hotel? In someways I could see a casino and concert venue as being a better fit for that spot...

This project no doubt brought to you be the same dozen or so developers who '..planned..' the new Club Med redevelopment and the 5-star hotel at Par-la-Ville in downtown Hamilton and a half-dozen others.

The Bermuda National Gallery really ought to mount an '..exhibit..' of all of the colorfully artistic '..architectural renderings..' of all of the failed tourism development '..plans..' that have been collecting dust and cluttering the storerooms at the government Planning Office.

Actually, architecturally the glass roof fits the 19th century buildings quite well. Reminiscent of the Victorian shopping arcades in London and also Cardiff, where I was born. The Victorian Central Market in Cardiff is also like that, with all the stalls under a glass roof.

Personally, I don't mind a few ruins standing around. Reminds me of "home" and all the ruins that Cromwell knocked about a bit, as the old music hall song goes.

I doubt this will ever happen, like the hotel that was supposed to be built on Par-la-Ville.
