I've never actually stayed there, but I know a lot of the regulars here have and love it! It is known as a "basic" option, but from what I've seen of the pictures etc is doesn't look that basic!!

It's on the main road (Highway 7) about 10-15 mins walk from the Gap and it overlooks the beach/sea.

I'm sure some of the others will be able to give you more detail!

I've stayed at Blue Orchids and enjoyed it very much. As has already been said, it's not a luxury option, but it's clean and provides everything you need for self catering.

When you arrive you may not be very impressed as it's on a busy road, but we didn't hear anything in either room and on the beach itself you certainly can't hear it!

We didn't think much of the food in the bar and it has very limited opening hours, the pools are both small and there's nothing in the way of entertainment or stuff for kids. But the beach is gorgeous and quiet, the staff are very helpful and there's a supermarket and bars/restaurants within walking distance. Oh and every room has a sea view, though some are better than others!

All in all I'd recommend it for couples rather than families, though there's no reason not to bring kids, it just doesn't specialise in them.

I'd say for what you get it's extremely good value for money and we wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I've stayed there 4 times now and have booked to go back next year for another 3 weeks. I would say it is 3+ star self catering accommodation and I think it offers outstanding value for money. I've always stayed at Coral Mist as all the rooms overlook the beach.

Yes, the place does back onto the south coast road and it can be busy, but once in the rooms the sound of the waves overtakes any traffic noise. It may or may not be an issue for you, I guess it depends how well you sleep, but there are large numbers of repeat guests, so it can't be that bad!

The studios have a full size fridge and cooker and absolutely anything else you could need (microwave, coffee maker, toaster etc). The bathroom has a large walk-in shower (powerful!) but no bath. The views from the balconies are wonderful - turquoise sea and white sand!

You've plenty of places within walking distance - bars and restaurants, as well as shops, supermarkets and banks - and you can either walk to the Gap (15 mins) or catch a bus/ZR outside the hotel.

The beach is really quiet and only really used by hotel guests. You'll get a few beach vendors but nowhere near the number you get at Dover Beach, since Blue Orchids headland forms the end of the beach.

I have just returned from a week at the Coral Mist with my partner and we found the place to be fantastic! I think when it comes to views Coral Mist has the better option as all the rooms are beach facing. The room is basic but has everything you would require for a self catering hotel (full gas cooker, microwave, toaster, loads of cutlery and plates and glasses etc). The rooms were fresh and clean and air conditioned.

The beach is on your doorstep and the local supermarket is only a few minutes walk away, plus nearby restaurants. St Lawrence Gap is also in easy walking distance - we would walk there on the night, have some great food and rum cocktails and then head back via taxi. The staff at the hotel were excellent. We always ended up having a good chat with them when wondering through.

We did wonder around to Blue Orchid as they are joining hotels and we were always pleased that we choose Coral Mist! There is slight road noise and some sounds of the waves but nothing major. We also woke up one morning to baby sea turtles who were making their way to sea right outside the hotel! The pools are small but when you are so close to that ocean is really is not a problem!

I would choose Coral Mist again in a flash and we met loads of people there who would do the same...

I have stayed at Coral Mist twice and can recommend it without hesitation.

It is by far the best hotel/apartments i have ever stayed in. I could not say one bad thing about the place.....other than having to leave of course.

All the rooms have an ocean view which is just amazing, the staff are all really friendly and the rooms are well equiped, clean and comfortable.

Reggie the activities guy will organise any trip you want to do and there are safety deposit boxes at reception if you want them at no extra charge. There is a pool and although it is small there was never anybody in it whenever i went to it, i guess you don't need it with the beach right there.

You would not be disappointed if you stayed here. Blue Orchids is the sister hotel to this so either would be fine. The only difference that i know of is that BO rooms tend to have garden/pool views as appose to beach/sea.

I'll back up all the above recommendations.

Stayed in CM in May and loved it. Hotel looks great from the outside and doesn't disappoint when you go in!

Yes, it is on a very busy road, but it never really bothered us as the room faces the sea (only yards away) and it was actually entertaining to watch the traffic/cars/drivers occasionally when leaving the room :-). BTW, we never had a problem crossing the road - like everyone else on the island, the drivers were polite & considerate.

As has been said - easy walking distance to a big supermarket, Rockley Beach, the Gap and plenty of bars/eateries. Minibuses pick you up outside for Oistins, Bridgetown, Garrison Savanah, etc for pennies.

Just to say that Blue Orchids is great too. It does have a garden and pool view as well as a sea view. The beach is just to the side of the hotel. It is a lovely place to stay on the south coast.

My husband and I have just booked to go to Coral Mist in June next year - can't believe the deal we got and it looks fabulous - the beach looks to die for. I have been reading all the reports and I am sure we have going to have a fanatabulosie time!

Can't wait to try all the bars in the Gap and Oistins we have heard so much about.
