Can anyone recommend a restaurant for local dishes (besides Oisten's and Brown Sugar).

Thanks.

Don't forget the food vans that arrive at a lot of hotels at lunchtime, they come to provide food for the hotel staff but many guests now buy from them. The food is al local dishes.

I would recommend the Atlantis Hotel on the East Coast for a Bajan buffet lunch, very good food in a beautiful setting.

Great suggestions!

In the Gap, you may want to try Pun de Grill.

There are vendors selling local grub on Baxter's Road in St. Michael in the evening. (Be advised, this a really working-class local's haunt, not touristy at all.)

Sand Dunes in St. Andrew is interesting if you're on the east coast one day.

In Bridgetown you can try some flying fish and cou cou at Waterfront Cafe. Marketfive in the Satay Mall (behind Cave Shepherd) is the spot for bajan-inspired gourmet cuisine. It's not exactly traditional Bajan fare, but the flavor is certainly there -- not at all watered down.

There are some stalls by Accra beach that provide some flying fish sandwiches and platters as well.

I've heard pretty good stuff about Lemon Arbor in St. John and Atlantis Hotel's buffet.

I agree with folks who suggest the street vans. You may also want to conduct a search for "cheap eats" or "eat inexpensive" since local cuisine tends to be the least expensive. This should yield some more restaurant suggestions.

Enjoy your travels in Bim!

The Fisherpond House Sunday Buffet (105BDS$ ++) has both true Bajan dishes and 'international' food ..amazing setting (indoors and outdoors) and service and the food was endless

One of our best eating out experiences ...would recommend you book and call them for detailed directions

All great suggestions so far, especially from BBDSBEAUTY, def try the vendors on Baxter's Road. Another one for the list is Davids Place in Worthing, locally owned, lots of local dishes to pick from!

Lemon Harbour in ST.JOHN is very good, inexpensive but crowded on Saturdays. SUNBURY is buffet style and is good on Sundays.Brown Sugar is good too with a daily BUFFET. IF you are in the city you visit MUSTER'S off the main strip(BROAD ST) . it has a REALXING ATMOSPHERE with local foods and drinks.

For lunch don't forget Mr Delicious' van on Miami beach - the best roti, rum punch and fish cakes! Not exactly a restaurant, but definitely worth a visit.

You don't mention where you are staying but if you are on or want to venture to the west coast you could try Connies ....

""Connies barbecue outside the Pentecostal Church Paynes Bay does superb fresh Dolphin(when in season) because there is an awful lot of frozen fish on the island. I think tourists may be surprised at just how much. But Connies fish is always good, cooked in front of you and his garlic saute potatoes are delicious. He is only open Thu,Fri Sat nights, be prepared to queue!""
