Need some advice from the experts

Hi - I have spent a good amount of time going over all of the great info here but am still confused and indecisive.

I would love some help from those of you who have been there and done that.

We are a family of four - mid 40's healthy fit parents, 6 and 10 year old boys who are up for anything. Mom and little one don't snorkel but could easily lay in the sun and drink punch. We are in port for one day, arrive @ 10:00 leave @ 6:00.

Things we're thinking:

Turtle swim

Harrisons Caves

Flower Forest

Local Shopping?

My question is what would be our best bet - hiring a taxi? tour? What should our highlights be? I'd love a mix of local culture and nature. We don't want to be over scheduled or worried about getting back to the boat on time although it sounds like a great place to be stranded.

I appreciate all of your help in advance!

I would definitely say hire a taxi to take you around. Skip the Flower Forest, nothing impressive. Visit Hunte's Gardens instead. Harrison's Cave is a must and maybe a trek into Bathsheba for lunch at the Atlantis Hotel. You can see the monkeys after at the Barbados Wildlife Reserve just 20 mins drive down the road and back to the Port afterwards.

There is good shopping at the Bridgetown Cruise Terminals where you will arrive so no real need to set time out to do this as it can be done before or after your touring.

Do take a look at www.totallybarbados.com where you will find a wealth of quality and up-to-date information on the island.

Hope this provides some guidance for you.

A 4x 4 tour will give you a great taste of the island and the kids always love it. It's a fun, way to see quite a lot of the island and it'll get you back to the port in plenty of time.but I'm not sure you'll be in port in time to catch it unless they have different tour times.

I wouldn't take 6 or 10 year old on a "safari type tour". Not that there's anything wrong with the tour, there isn't. It's the seating arrangement, seated sideways in the back of truck without seat belts, jostling around. For a family taking an Island Tour I'd get a taxi van.

If that suits you here's a link to a post with recommended taxi drivers used by regular visitors to Barbados. tripadvisor.ca/ShowTopic-g147262-i230-k50440…
