Oistins/Bajan Roots and Rhythmns

We are in the process of looking at what trips we need to book and which we can do on our own. We are staying at Southern Palms in April. This is our first trip to Barbados and we can't wait!

We know we can go by bus to Oistins but could you please remind us which bus to get and where we get it from.

Also we wish to see the Bajan Roots and Rhythmns at Plantation Theatre and on the map it looks walkable, is it please or should we look at getting a taxi both ways.

Thank you very much for any advice, I know I have been asking quite a lot, but want to make the most of our special holiday.

Thank you.

The bus to Oistins is "Oistins" or a ZR.

Yes you can easily walk to the show at Roots & Rhythms

Walk from Southern Palms, turn left until the playing field, then turn right, walk along the road next to the Dover Playing Field towards Highway 7 and take either an Oistins, Kirtons, Silver Sands, Airport, Fairy Valley, Sam Lords Castle bus, or a Route 11 ZR Van. These will all take you to Oistins. Just look for the closest "OUT OF CITY" bus stop which looks like this:

Visit Oistins on a Friday night around 19:00, have dinner at Pat's Place, the dishes are delightful. You can get a huge portion of Blue Marlin with fries and salad for $25 BBD (was $20, but went up two weeks ago).

Yes, you can walk from Southern Palms to Bajan Roots and Rythms. Just follow the same path as identified above and you'll see it across the main road, almost opposite Divi Southwinds Resort. The walk should take 10 minutes each way.

Ask as many questions as you wish!

Do take a look at www.totallybarbados.com where you will find a wealth of quality and up-to-date information on the island.

Regards

I think it's quicker to turn left out of S Palms and then walk through the grounds of Divi Southwinds onto the main road either to go to Roots and Rhythms or to get the bus to Oistins.

Am I going mad?!

As you come out of Southern Palms, you turn right to walk up the road, then left at the playing field and up the side of the now closed Escape building and follow the road round to the main road, then turn left to walk to the bus stop (if you want the bus to Oistins).

Or you could turn slightly left out of Southern Palms and then right to go through Paradise Village and follow the road round to the same main road, this brings you out almost opposite Roots and Rhythms and the bus stop.

Just woke up... Post #2 should read "Walk from Southern Palms, turn right until the playing field, then turn left, walk along the road next to the Dover Playing Field towards Highway 7"....
