Barbados with 11 and 16 year olds

We are researching our holiday for next summer. Where would be good to stay with our kids, 11 and 16? We have done AI in Mexico and Dominican. We like to get out too - is it acceptable to take kids out at night to bars?

I did put a few options of accommodation on your other post but not sure of your budget. Did you take a look at those options? Ocean2, Bougainvillea, Coral Mist, Blue Orchid & Accra.

AI option Turtle Beach.

Most Restaurants & bars would be happy for kids especially earlier in the evening although some of the bars in the Gap are probably not for kids but they tend to be later in the evening places.

Thanks. Did look at bougainvillea and turtle beach. Turtle beach sounds good, only problem was the room situation as getting a 1 bedroom for extra space made it quite expensive.

You could also look at renting a 2 bed unit at Sapphire Beach this is directly on Dover Beach which is quite a busy beach that the kids would like. This is not AI but you could probably get a a good deal directly with an owner and save lots of money on drinks & snacks.

It looks amazing. My only problem is it might be a bit quiet for the kids. It's getting harder as they get older!

The beach area is one of the most active in Barbados but you are right Sapphire Beach does not have organised activities. Different type of holiday.

Sapphire Beach has a really stunning location and I'm sure the kids would enjoy it. Unless you'd prefer a full service hotel with adjoining rooms?

Interconnecting rooms would be great but most hotels won't guarantee them. We do like a bit of activity during the day. It's also nice to have something at night as you meet up with other guests, saying that we also like to sample local bars and restaurants. Think we are getting hard to please haha.

Have you considered Almond Casuarina Beach hotel? Similar location to Turtle Beach but generally cheaper. The Casuarina is all inclusive. Not sure which other suggestions have been made but you might want to look at Accra Beach hotel for non AI in addition to the self catering choices suggested by footychick. Also, what about Bougainvillea?

Sapphire Beach is in the quite end of the Gap which has a good variety of bars & restaurants. The beach has also various water activites available. This type of holiday is the most common in Barbados we took two 16 year olds and they were more than happy on the beach and going out on trips. There is a surf school on a little beach next door where I am sure they would love to learn to surf. You can boogie board too. There is a Zip wire, a chocolate factory, submarine and catamaran trips to entertain them too.
