My extended family and I (age ranging from 13 to 72) will be staying at the Schooner Bay apartments in Speightstown for 2 weeks at the end of July. We are all very excited as this has been in the planning some time. I have done quite a bit of research but would love to hear from anyone who has stayed there or lives on the island. I have a few questions but any extra info would be gratefully received.
The beach looks lovely - can you walk quite far in each direction and how calm is the water for swimming (I read 'some' undertow?)
Jordan's supermarket is very close to us - would we get all we need there? We intend to 50% self cater 50% visit restaurants. Do they stock wine/beer etc?
Any suggestions for local bars or restaurants very welcome (also non local, we are happy to drive)
Are there local boat/katamaran rides available or should we venture down to Holetown for that?
Are we better off just staying arond our beach and pool on cruise docking days? I hear some of the attractions and beaches get quite busy on those days
Any info on best places to go/ things to do appreciated. We really would love to get a flavour of the island and enjoy it to the full. We love all things to do with local wildlife/ natural beauty/food (some shopping)/history and culture. Also my husband and brother in law would love to do some deep sea fishing. I think we would all enjoy the Bajan Roots & Rhythms and also the submarine and Harrisons caves. Review on Trip Advisor are great but would still like to hear directly from those who know.
Any suggestions and info really welcome.
