Harlequin Hotel at Hastings

When walking the boardwalk over Xmas near Tapas i saw that the promised Harlequin H hotel on the site of the Allemanda is planned to open in "early 2013". I know this development has had its problems and should have opened in April 2012 but it still looked as though there was a lot to do to meet the new planned date.

Anyone have any up to date information as their website isn't a lot of use.

Also further down the boardwalk there is a derelict hotel in an advanced state of decomposition which looks positively dangerous. As this is right on the boardwalk does anyone know what is happening to this site. Its a shame to see such a mess on a signature development like the boardwalk.

The derelict building was the Caribee and it has been for sale for a long time and so far no takers.

As for H, well that'a an ongoing story with a lot of unanswered questions, financial and legal issues according to various media stories.

At some point during the first quarter the sign will change to read: "Opening Summer 2013". Later, it will change to read: "Opening Fall 2013".

Repeat ad nauseum.

There is a similar problem with SoCo which seems to have now totally stalled.

Whats the issue with developments in Barbados as this state of affairs isn't an isolated thing and there are quite a few hotels/apartments etc that have stalled in their build projects? I could understand if the economic climate was causing the delay of some developments but it seems most get started and then stop half way through. Harlequin is a good example of this as quite a lot of work has already been done and you would have thought finishing it and bringing some money in would be a priority
