Virgin flight

We have booked our flight for January 2nd flying on the vs029 from Gatwick to Barbados and we were surprised to see our flight leaves Gatwick at 13.25 and arriving into Grantley Adams at 18.10.

we have received our e tickets and it is a direct flight !we were surprised as we usually arrive mid afternoon.

My question is will the hire car office at the airport still be open? We are considering booking a hire car as we are staying on the west coast for the first week .

And has anyone used the Bajan nav ?as we were considering downloading it onto our sat nav before we arrive as we are staying at Shades and our friends are staying at Anglers apartment and we think we know where they are but in the dark it may help to have a sat nav.

Thank you

Yes the hired car offices will remain open. During the Winter Season which commences the last Sunday of October 2013, Virgin Atlantic has somewhat of a staggered schedule meaning that flights depart different times on different days. Some days it departs at 10:30am and arrives at 3:15pm, some days it departs at 10:55am and arrives at 3:40pm and at least one it departs at 1:25pm and arrives BGI at 6:10pm.

Thank you BGI world traveller, would you know what aircraft the flight will be in December?

We flew this summer and it was not the 747 we have PE tickets booked and would if possible rather be in bubble so we are hopeful that the winter will see the return of the 747.

Have you any ideas how much a cab would cost to The shades Apartments at Paynes bay from the airport?

We would need a van as there will be four of us and a baby and a pile of luggage our friends are staying at Anglers apartment which we believe isn't far away from our apartment at shades,so we would drop them off on the way.

We are undecided if we should just grab a cab or have a hire car/van.

I have used BajanNav on several occasions and have found it invaluable. It only works on Garmin GPS devices. If you follow their download instructions carefully, you shouldn't have difficulty getting it to work for you.

Boeing 747-400 operation varies in the Winter Season. They will send it 3 days a week and the Airbus A330-300 will come 4 days a week.

A taxi to Payne's Bay would be about $53 BBD. However, should you require a larger vehicle due to excess luggage, the cost will be times 1.5.

Perhaps you can look at renting a Suzuki APV and drive yourselves there.

Hope this helps
