Anniversary in October - accommodations and general advice

My husband and I are celebrating our 10-year anniversary and have booked flights for the end of October. We have never been to Barbados and have been overwhelmed by all of the information! We are only there for a long weekend - 5 days - and have decided on the west coast. Looking for a newly refurbished modern hotel around $350 - $400 USD per night. Looking for nice grounds, great beach, not AI. We plan to have a few "nice" dinners but also look forward to just walking around Holetown and happening upon whatever for casual dinners and drinks. We will spend our days relaxing and exploring with a few day trips. Looking at Tamarind for accommodations but not seeing many threads mentioning this hotel. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Click on the hotel button above and you will see lots of reviews on Tamrind. Also for that special occasion look at the sister hotel The House which is smaller and just that extra bit special and only 100 yards along the beach. You can also use Tamarind facilities if you want.

I can highly recommend Tamarind or its sister hotel Colony Club, it reopens 1st October after minor refurbishments.

I would also recommend the Tamarind. It has beautiful grounds and is on a great beach. Tamarind is in Paynes Bay where you have a handful of nice restaurants, Holetown just a 5 minute bus ride away.

It may be worth taking a look at the Colony club as well, you would be much nearer to Holetown there but IMO the beach is better at the Tamarind.

Definitely have a look at The Colony Club - a very nice hotel -on a very nice beach (which still has some shade available - unlike some of the other hotels who think the visitors want to "fry all day") - still has lots of sunny beach but some nice trees too! - sister hotel to Tamarind Cove and there is a water shuttle that will take you back and forth between the two) - Colony is walking distance into Holetown with all the various bars, and restaurants to suit all tastes and price ranges, plus if one has the odd inclement morning - available to the new upscale LimeGrove Lifestyle centre for some retail therapy or to stop and see a film! - Highly recommend the Colony Club -we like that hotel!. (and you mentioned newly refurbished - well Colony is closed right now for its annual refurbishment - but should certainly be reopened in time for your arrival)

Thank you for the feedback above! Any particular day trips (or, rather, 1/2 day trips) anyone would recommend? Catamaran, etc? Also, do these need to be booked in advance or is it sufficient to book upon arrival? Many thanks!!!

Book your anniversary dinner (if the budget allows) at The Cliff - ask for a table by the cliffs edge to watch the giant rays etc. swimming in the floodlit sea below - magical - fab. food - ambiance, attentive service - definitely the place to send the evening on a special occasion - don't wait until the last minute - phone to book or if no email accepting reservations.

We used to like to spend one day out on the sea sailing -leave in the morning, going up the coast to north point, turning around, and sailing back to a deserted cove, anchoring, swimming - having a lovely buffet lunch aboard, swimming and snorkeling some more - then going swimming with the endangered turtles before heading home at about 4/4.30pm - wind blown - and happy -(but we like sailing - some people do not) - also plan a day's outing to the east coast - to see the wild Atlantic rollers come crashing in - do some beach combing - have lunch at The Atlantis - or the Round House - get your driver to stop on Cherry Tree Hill and see the view - and maybe stop and visit Andromeda Grds. Other visits could include on other days, Orchid World, Flower Forest, Harrisons' Cave etc. - Lots to do and see as well as enjoying beach time.

Enjoy - and have a wonderful time - Congrats on 10 yrs.
