No Barbadian rum at Sandals Casuarina

Having just enjoyed 4 days at Sandals Casuarina, I was really surprised that absoluely NO brand of Barbadian rum was available at the hotel. In view of the extraordinary concessions granted to Sandals by the barbados Government, is this either reasonable or fair. I did speak briefly with Adam Stewart (CEO Sandals Resorts International) while at the hotel and hopefully he will rectify this oversight some time in the future.

That doesn't make sense. No Barbados Rum?

Do they serve the host country rum in other Sandals?

So...Mt.Gay, Cockspur etc in Barbados then.

When in Rome (Barbados) do as they do and enjoy.

The house (or any) rum at Sandals Casuarina is El Dorado (Guyana).

You know a good bar has a variety of products so, maybe they can have a variety of rums including some from Barbados, just as they would gin, whiskey etc. Just a thought.

PeachandQuiet

I completely understand now why Sandals is offering El Dorado. It is much cheaper than Mount Gay. In fact, Stanfield Scott is the local distributor for it and it's only $11.75 BBD per 1 Litre Bottle. It's all about the $$$. The cheaper the liquor, the higher the profits.

But I agree, in light of the gross concessions given to them, they can at least sell local rum.

El Dorado is horrible rum- they had a contract with them for awhile and ended that and restarted with Appleton's! Maybe this is where they shipped all the bottles of El Dorado that they had left over!!!!!

In June 2013 under Couples there was Mount Gay available. Interestingly at Sandals there is still currently a 'Rum 101' class on their entertainment schedule at which guests are able to try plenty of non Barbados rums. Such a shame.

Peach and Quiet - maybe you could contact Louis Ward and see if he would have his sales reps offer them a better "deal' to stock Mt Gay?
