We are spending 3 days 4 nights in Barbados the first week of February then want to go onto St. Maarten...mainly because it's the only place we can find a half decent flight home from (using miles, but still has a stop) I have a flight held from St Maarten home until midnight tomorow. Trying to figure this out fast.
The problem is getting from Barbados to St. Maarten. Liat only has early flights with one stop or afternoon flights with 2 to 3 stops and plane changes. It seems risky to have the plane changes on other islands and then it takes 4 hours to get to St Maarten. Crazy.
Liat's site says to arrive 2 hours prior to flights that you must be checked in 45 minutes prior. All airlines recommend arriving 2 hours early. Is it really necessary to check in that much before your flight? That would mean getting up at 5am....really Hate! getting up early, especially on vacation. I won't sleep all night knowing we have to get up that early! Could we check in at 7am for an 8:20 flight?
Also, are there other carriers, small hopper flights to the other islands? So far Liat is all that is coming up. Can't find anything non stop or one stop in afternoon.
