August Weather/carnival

Hello, we are looking to book for the first 2 weeks in August, we have been to Cuba in September and did experience rain for about 10 minutes daily then it went back to hot sunshine, is Barbados going to be the same ?

I know you can't predict the weather but any August advice would be welcome.

Also if anybody has any experience/advice on the carnival that would be helpful

Thank you :)

suggest weather will be similar to that which you experienced in Cuba

hot - humid - normally brief showers followed by sun - but there is no way to predict - it is the so called rainy season -( however that doesn't mean "monsoons") - and highly unlikely to have a hurricane (unlike Cuba) - Barbados rarely has them -(last really bad one to hit Barbados was Janet in 1955 ) come and enjoy

The August carnival is know as Crop Over. You'll find a very good description of it at www.barbados.org/cropover.htm#.UtLuVH8gGSM. It's a brilliant event so do try to plan your holiday round it.

August is in the middle of the winter season so be prepared for any eventuality. From time to time we have lots of rain with a few pockets of sunshine around that time.

We visited Barbados last year and attended the crop-over festival. It was fantastic, but so hot. We didn't know what to expect, and went with an open mind, and much advice from locals.

The main problem for us was the lack of shade from the intense sun. Many locals had umbrellas as sun shades, a very wise idea !

We stayed for about 4 hours, long enough to gain a snapshot of a fun loving carnival, but not to overdo it.

We sheltered in a local bar for food/refreshments between groups of revellers' partying past.

Thank you, don't mind a little bit of rain as long as it isn't constant for 2 weeks. Hopefully we will have 2 weeks of hot sunshine and clear skies.
