We're a couple in our 40's that love to travel to the caribbean islands each year. This year we're undecided. We've done Jamaica and the Bahamas several times so we're looking for a new spot. Hoping someone who has traveled to both (Barbados and St Maarten) can help us decide. We love beautiful calm turquoise beaches, love to hang out on the beach all day, love to stay at a hotel/motel/condo/villa on the beach, love to eat caribbean food, love to party at night, love to drink good liquor. We normally do all inclusive but have realized we're missing out on the local food/liquor so we've decided to stay away from AI. I've started several forums on TA on St Maarten and got lots of information but from comparing the beaches in St Maarten to Barbados, Barbados has won. Also it seems the prices per night at the hotels/motels/condo's/villas are cheaper in Barbados. In addition to helping us decide on which island to stay, it would be great if you could offer where in Barbados we can stay that we can walk to local spots on the beach or restaurants to eat and drink as well as walk to clubs/bars/lounges at night to party the night away. I've been told Christ Church/St Lawrence Gap is the best place to stay where we can be close to everything, is that correct? Also what beaches would be in those areas? Are all the beaches the same in Barbados, are some better than others, do they all have hotels/motels/condo's/villas we can rent to be able to stay on the beach?
