I've never found the Gap to be pricey. There are a wide range of restaurants and places to eat in the area catering for pretty much everyone's budget. If you eat out at somewhere like 'Harlequin', which is lovely, you can expect to pay between £15-£25 for a main course but there are plenty of places such as the "St Lawrence Steak House' opposite the Southern Palms hotel where prices are a lot cheaper. You should also try some of the little food huts down by Dover beach where you can pick up some Macaronni Pie and Chicken for about £5, wonderful. McBrides and The Ship Inn also do reasonably priced food, you should also take advantage of the Happy Hour's that pretty much all of the bars do in the evening. Drinks are generally a bit more expensive in The Ship and McBrides but if you want to save a few £'s then try one of the local bars such as 'Braddie's Bar' at the top of Dover Playing fields or 'Rhythm n Booze' on Highway 7. Don't worry about the cost of restaurants & bars in SLG, you'll find somewhere that caters for your budget, no problem.

The Gap & surrounding area must be the cheapest area on the island, you will be fine there.

The Gap is by no means an overly expensive area - there are restaurants that aren't cheap if you want a dining experience evening out. There are also places that are budget friendly! The St Lawrence Steakhouse & Grill, the Chinese upstairs fromthe steakhouse, McBride's, the Ship Inn, Pun de Grill all do excellent values dinners. Street vendors and deli places like Scottie's or the huts by Dover Beach do supercheap local type food.

As has been mentioned, there are happy hours in different places at different times and some bars to 2 for 1 all night on selected days.

What are your dates in April? I'll be there from 22nd onward...
