Reeds, Glitter, or Payne bay ?

I have only been to Barbados once and stayed at Christ Church near Miami Beach. I would like to return and stay on the "platinum coast". I am looking for a nice peaceful condo for Christmas 2011 ( I need peace and quiet after visiting crazy St. Martin) .

I want a great beach with super soft sand bottom good for swimming. Have found nice condos on Paynes, Reeds, and Glitter ........can you let me know the pros and cons of each ?

I do not know St James that well

thanks so much, RW

Agree Glitter Bay. Reeds too isolated and has a poor beach and . Paynes Bay is too busy with cruise ships. Also Glitter Bay has a pool for use if the sea is rough a definite possibility at this time of year.

I think if you want peace and quiet at that time of year, then Reeds is your best bet! Having just returned from Paynes Bay, I know it was pretty lively. I also visited friends at Glitter Bay where quite a lot of people stay at this time of year, so again the beach was pretty busy. Christmas & New Year is always a busy time on the West Coast, but I would say Reeds is likely to be the quietest of your choices.

Glitter Bay is the best beach and close to restaurants, shopping, supermarkets etc. Reeds House does not have the nicest beach and is a bit further north. Paynes Bay beach is always busy especially catamarans and jet skis and is a bit away from Holetown as well. Try www.barbadosvillaservices.com for accommodation at Glitter Bay

I had the same question..Reeds, Paynes or Glitter. Now I'm trying to decide between Reeds and Glitter. I haven't been able to find any reviews for Reeds House 9 & 10 and I have read that there have been some robberies etc. in Holetown and not sure if I want to be too isolated. Any comments?
