Looking for Guest House/Cheap Hotel near Maxwell Beach Road

Hi,

Been to BDS several times now, going again in June. My friends are staying over at the Bougainvillea Resort on Maxwell Beach Road. Can anyone recommend a guest house/apartment that is within a ten minute walk to the Bougainvillea? I'd like to avoid staying in St. Lawrence gap, but I have a fellow that can walk me back there if need be. Less than $60 USD a night would be preferable, so is A/C. Thanks!

Have a look at :-

Butterfly Beach Hotel - 5 mins walk away

www.butterflybeach.com

Sunbay Hotel - 30 seconds walk away

www.sunbaybarbados.com

Athough the rack rates for both of these are above your budget you can often find good deals on sites such as Expedia etc which would bring the rates down to near your budget and they both have aircon

Maxwell Beach Apts - next door to Butterfly

http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/p445923

Slightly above budget and with aircon in the bedroom

At the bottom of the Gap there is the Meridian Inn

www.meridianinn.com

In the day this would only be a 5 min walk along the beach to Bouganvillia

Hope this helps

Ocean 15 in the Gap may suit you it is one of the closest to the Bougainvillea. There are some apartments just round the corner from the Bougainvillea called the Ella Fitzgerald I assume they are still there. They would be the closest. But I can't recommend them as I have never been in them. The reviews on TA are not good and are 3 years old. They used to be noisy due to a bar opposite but I'm not sure of what's still there.

I stay across the road from the Flamingo and it is more like 10-15 minutes from the Bougainvillea.

Bajan Flamingo seems ideal. Butterfly Beach Hotel meets most of your criteria. However, it is well over $60 per night.

You may want to look at the South End Apartments in Maxwell. It's not as close as you'd like but they are pretty inexpensive. I have friends who use them for long stays. Here's a map to the apartments from the main road. barbadosbymap.com/index.php?mapItem=742

Pegwell Inn Guest House was the cheapest I ever had (I used this when I visited Barbados for the first time. However, that guest house is no more but it was a good location (it may had been noisy outside since it's close to a road) but it was close to the plaza, bus stops, beach..

The woman was really wonderful and she even had her own bar but too bad this was sold. If it was still around, I would highly recommend it but it would still be far from where your friends are.

Maybe try a hostel.

Thanks Brettski -- I emailed the Flamingo. Though knowing BDS, I'll be lucky if I ever hear back!

Butterfly Beach is my back up plan... totally decent. Thanks again everyone.

The lady who runs Bajan Flamingo is really nice, she's called Gery, i'm sure she will get back to you asap.
