Lion Fish in Bonaire

Curious when they first showed up in Bonaire and is anything setup for visiting divers to help get rid of these pests? How often would you see them compared to Caymans or Belize?

I can't compare the lionfish population in Bonaire to elsewhere but they have been in the waters of Bonaire for about two years I believe. The Marine Park has issued hunting licenses to employees of local dive shops as well as to residents. Several dive shops will have guests act as "spotters" for the licensed hunters so check with your dive shop of choice. You can also eat lionfish pizza at Pasa Bon Pizza, lionfish burgers at Cactus Blue and other preparations at Bistro de Paris.

And while it is not lionfish eradication, check out this cool opportunity from Dive Friends Bonaire as another way to give back to the island and ocean.
