Will folded bills be exchanged?

Hi,

I am planning on bringing Canadian money into Cuba to have it e changed into CUC. I understand that the bills can't be torn or written on, but what about folds? For security reasons, I plan to hide them in a money belt and I have to fold them for it to fit in there.

Also, assuming that is OK, will folded CUC's be accepted (as once again I will be hiding the majority)?

Looking to hear from anyone who has tried to convert/use folded bills there.

Thanks!!

1. Re: Will folded bills be exchanged?

I bring folded bills with me all the time. The only time I have ever had a bill refused exchange was when it had a small part of one corner torn off. I know it's at the discretion of the person working in the cadeca, but I have never had a problem. Same with folded CUC - I fold mine all the time; I have to, for it to fit in my wallet.
