Easter

Hi, we are travelling from New Zealand to Cuba and will probably arrive in Havana right on Easter. What will that be like? Will things be open? Is it busy, expensive at this time? Any ideas about visiting at Easter?? Thanks your help MUCH appreciated!

Most Cubans don't really notice Easter much. It isn't a public holiday.

In the tourism industry, it approximately marks the end of the high season, as after that the weather in Canada is getting better and so the Canadians stop travelling.

I think Good Friday is now a public holiday, following the Pope's visit the other year, but that's about it as far as Easter goes in Cuba.

We were there for Easter 2012 and wouldn't have even known it was different than any other day.

Indeed you are correct Mr. b - granma.cu/cuba/2014-04-15/recesan-las-activi… - but that doesn't affect tourist attractions etc.

(I had looked at some websites which clearly had not been updated).
