Someone said to not take travellers cheques with american express on - to take gbp or euros - anyone else taken the above please?

Travellers cheques can be a huge hassle to cash in Cuba period, plus if you lose them you can't get them replaced there. American Express travellers cheques..impossible! Nor can you use any credit card that is drawn on a US bank or is affiliated with a US bank.

Just take sterling or Euros and exchange, you'll have no problems.

Yeap, AE-TC can be cashed at BFI (Banco Financiero INternacional). But the “hassle” mentioned before will still be in place as BFI has few subsidiaries around the country and

In a word about USD. NO, unless you want to pay a extra premium on them. Take cash of your counrty and exchange at the airport, resort, bank.

Simple:

$100.00 USD = 80.00 CUC…upon landing here.

ALL currencies mentioned in the link given above are changeable at those rates into CUC.

So, what’s the point in bringing USD?

Send 1 person to change your money while the others wait for the luggage. You should have lots of time. Liggage can be slow at times. Have a great trip. Wish I was leaving soon. April can't come qiuck enough
