Hotel advice

Hi,

We will be visiting Cuba for the first time in April (we hope this is a good time to visit). We are staying in the NH Parque Central in Havana for 3 nights, we then want to stay at the beach for a week. Unfortunately we are having trouble choosing the second hotel, and can not decide between the Breezes Jibacoa and the Blau Varadero. They both seem to get excellent reviews (currently they are both number 2 on Trip Advisor for Havana and Varadero respectively), offer similar facilities and are close in price – so we are turning to others for advice. Has anyone stayed at both, which would you recommend? What are the pros and cons of each place?

We know that no one else can decide for us but would love to hear the opinions of people with direct experience. As this will be our first trip to a new country we want to choose wisely.

Thank you for any advice,

Rebecca

Hi! Have not stayed at the Blau but did stay at Jibacoa for two weeks last November (07). We LOVED it! If you are looking for a lot of exciting nightlife, perhaps Varadero would be a better choice, but if you want to chill, enjoy the Cuban people and countryside, then I can't imagine a better place than Jibacoa - the snorkeling is truly spectacular and the Cuban people that work at the resort are lovely! If you go, please say a big HELLO to Roger at the beach grill - while you are enjoying some fabulous grouper! Whatever - I don't believe you can go wrong by choosing Cuba! It's a wonderful country! Have fun!
