Melia Cohiba

Melia Cohiba... Is there anything to do around the hotel that is not in the hotel? What is the neighborhood like? We will be there for 3 or 4 nights. How can we hop a ride into central Havana? How much will it cost? Are there any restaurants that may be around the area of the hotel but not in the hotel? We'd like to explore the neighborhood. Is it a nice area? What is the actual area of the hotel called?

Name of neighborhood: Vedado.

Across the street you have the Jazz Café (live Latin Jazz nightly).

5 blocks to the south Casa de la Amistad (Tuesday/Thursdays/Saturdays). Live music mixed crowd (locals included). Another five blocks the Revolution Square. Within the area of the Square the National Theater (local and international performances / 3different stages) and within its facilities Café Cantante and Delirio Habanero (Salsa Clubs but younger crowd)

Taxi ride to Old Havana 7 minutes/ 4 cuc one way. You will be 4 minutes from Hotel Nacional (I wonder why someone coming from the States picked a Spanish version of a Marriot staying in Cohiba instead of Hotel Nacional but…I am sure there is a reason).

Next door Riviera Hotel. 3 blocks Headquarters of Cuban National Folkloric Group (open activities on Saturday afternoons).

You will be right at the Malecon. Promenade built along the ocean. Special area for jogging early mornings, we may even run into each other’s…lol…
