My husband and I are back from our second trip to Havana. We used the same Havana guide to help us find the hidden music and nightlife that can be hard to pin down in Cuba.

Here is my original post a few years ago:
My husband and I just traveled six weeks with a Cuban guide who was lovely; sophisticated, well dressed, mid-thirties, spoke six or seven languages (including English) and had lived in Scandanavia for some years with his family.
We were interested in nightlife in Havana. If you've been to Havana you know it's nearly impossible to know where the parties and music are without a lot of hassle or having spent a lot time there previously.
Our guide, Rafael, knew were to go and got us in and got us great tables at the best music places (we saw Charango Forever, Los Van Van, jazz, etc.). He ordered our drinks at the bar and took us around to meet other young Cuban artists and got us into private parties with actors and directors.
We were in Cuba six weeks. He drove us around the island (not an easy feat, no real road signs, bad roads, etc.). He's a great driver, not crazy, we felt incredibly safe. Best of all, he never got on our nerves or was high-pressure sales. He seemed to understand that we paid him for his services and he didn't try to make money off us with commissions to homes and private restaurants.
As far as price, he gave us a real deal, very reasonable.
If you want his private email and phone in Havana send me a PM.
