This is our first time to Cuba. Where is the best place to exchange currency and what is the present rate of exchange?

You can exchange money at the airport or at the hotel. I'm not sure if there was a difference in the exchange rate but $20CDN will get you about $15.35 CUC (convertible peso)

Since this is your first trip to Cuba, here are some tips.

You can change your money at the airport on your arrival in Cuba or your hotel. You will receive converted pesos (CUC). Tip with pesos and please NO tipping with any foreign coins.

Departure fee is $25.00 CUC per person.

Hey Canada, I posted this same question over at Debbies and there is also a bank at one of the Santan Lucia resorts. I can't remember which resort but the best rate of exchange order Usually goes bank, airport, hotel.

At some point in this forum, some members were saying that the exchange rate was similar, wether at the airport of the hotel but i've read more lateley, about the rates being better at the hotel.

Would anyone who's just come back know?

thanks

We have done both and find the hotel is quicker and cheaper..The Brisas had a bank there and it was situated at the side of the front entrance..Very easy and hassle free...Have fun
