hotel that blasts least music?

I'm wondering if anyone can advise which hotel blasts the least amount of (recorded, not live) music near the pool/beach. I don't mind music during activities and shows, and I love love love the live music, but I just returned from a holiday in Varadero where the hotel blasted music at the pool from about 1-7 p.m. non-stop. I could barely speak with the people sitting next to me, it was so loud.

It's a very strict law in Cuba that all music systems must be turned up to maximum volume - right to the point where they're almost distorting - then they have to be turned up at least one more notch. ;-)

Good luck.

Cheers,

Hi since you posted on the Santiago de Cuba Forum......I assume that you are planning on going to one of the resort hotels here. Your hearing will be quite safe with any of the hotels here. It definitely is not Varadero. CQ :)))))

Terry......the new DJ at Los Corales followed the max and detorting rule for the evening shows. Unfortunately, I think one of the Entertainers is going deaf and kept running up to him in the booth and telling him to crank it up. Hopefully that has been fixed now!!!!!! But the rest of the time it was really enjoyable and relaxing. We just sat way in the back on the lounge chairs and enjoyed the shows from the distance. CQ :)))))

having been to both Varadero and Santiago de Cuba...Queenie is spot on. They do not crank up the music....it was very refreshing to be able to enjoy music and actually hear when someone was talking to me :)

Actually, this may depend on who is working.

At Costa Morena one evening, the DJ cranked up the tunes and blasted as much volume as he could at the four of us sitting there.

We wanted to enjoy an after dinner drink and a chat - not happening with his approach. He also refused to tone it down by more than a notch.

Had a similar experience at Carisol/Corales a couple of years earlier.

It really does depend on staff at any given moment.

I am getting reeally fed up with hearing the same dang music at every Cuban hotel that I visit. Do they all have the same discs for cranking out loud?? Agree with the OP that live music is mucho more refreshing.

At the hotel Pernik last year a group of us went to the front desk and demanded that the weasel by the pool stop blaring music at 9 am when nobody is at the pool and many are still in bed. They actually seemed quite surprised that people were complaing and at how ticked off we all were.

A pair of scissors can always fix this problem anyhow....jeje!

Looks like I hit a sore point with a few people! Thanks for the chuckles, Terry and CQ. I totally forgot that Canada is music-free, davebruce80. My bad ;)

I'm off now to get my hearing checked after Varadero vacation. And I am but a mere 41 years old.

Perhaps instead of "quitting bitching" I will actually be very un-Canadian and will complain to the front desk.

Alternatively, I will pack a pair of industrial-strength scissors for next holiday in the sun, which will hopefully be at Carisol/Corales ...

Well DiffyRed.......one advantage......no hearing aids......no music......hehehehehehehe

Since hotel Pernik is in Holgiun.......you'll not need your industrial strength scissors.....I hope! Really it was very relaxing at Carisol Los Corales this year. CQ :))))

I just returned from a one week stay at Costa Morena and loud music was not an issue. For the most part I really didn't notice the music as I was to busy chatting with people. Their disco was a different story but it was located at the far end of the resort and could not be heard by guests in their rooms.

PS: Anybody who cranks the tunes at the regular bars and refuses to turn it down for guests who want to chat should have their culos kicked.
