Rum of choice?

Hi there,

Im more of a whiskey drinker, but will definately bring home my quota of duty free Rum for my bar.

The questions I have are, whats your favorite? But what is a hard to find Rum back home that is easily found in Cuba?

Thoughts,feelings,favorites,experiences.... All welcome.

Also Do prices vary from location to location?

My favourite is Havana Club Blanco but I also like the HC Reserva. Just depends if you like dark or white rum and if you mix it or not. If you like your rum on the rocks the Reserva is the way to go although I have heard good things about the 7 yr aged although haven't tried it myself. If you prefer mixing the Havana Club Blanco is the way to go. As for prices they vary a little but barely at all. We paid 3.80 for a quart of the Blanco. The Reserva and 7 yr was about 7-8 and this was right at the resort. I think it was about 4.50 at the duty free in varadero airport. Doubt you can do better than 3.80 though. Looked for the Blanco all over Atlantic Canada and finally found it available in NB, girlfriend just brought me home a couple bottles very excited. Only thing is it is $27/quart here in Canada, damn taxes.....

I'll go with Havana Club 7 anos, HC Barrel proof, and then Santiago!

Caney Centurio, Santiago Anejo. HC cannot compete with these ones.

I've had Santiago and it is not bad but I still think HC is by far the better rum.

When you say Choice, HC 7anos is available in Canada, well at least where I live.

I brought back a jug of Barrel Proof in April. liked it better than HC 7, but I just can't get it here.

It seemed that my buddies really liked it as well!

Didn't last long!

Salud!
