Varadero or Guardalavaca

Hi we came on holiday to Cuba 6 years ago and fell in love with the place ... but now after years of visiting other parts of the world we want to come back ... but not sure where to stay last time we stayed in Guardalavaca and did a few nights in Havana which was amazing but not sure weather to go back to Guardalava or come to Varadero we want somewhere thats a quietish resort, not too busy with wild parties ( coming sept time ) but somewhere where we can walk out of the resort and look round and do things, in guardalavaca we were pretty much isolated unless we booked a trip out is there alot to do in Varedero or bus trips out that we could do any help is so appreciated x cant wait to come back

There is lots to do in Varadero. Depending on which resort you are staying at, the small town can be of walking distance. But even with the furthest resort, you are no more then 15-20 mins away from the town, markets, restaurants, etc...

There is the open air bus which takes you across the Varadero peninsula with many stops along the way.

We love it there!

Most of the hotels are stretched out along the peninsula and all are on the beach. You are never far from Varadero town by taxi from any of the hotels. There is a good golf course,a dolphinarium, two marinas, one takes you by catamaran to Cayo Blanco, the other is where you can go and drive your own wee speed boat or jet ski. There are bars playing live music at night along with night clubs, plenty of restaurants and flea markets for a good browse. There is also a park which has a lake in the middle and 2 or 3 restaurants.

Not forgetting you are just down the road from Havana.A day trip is easy from here, you could even go yourself by bus which would be another experience for you.

All in all there is plenty to do,or not as the case may be.Get out and explore or just laze around on one of the best beaches in the world.

Ian.
