Hi Louiseengland, first of all congrats on your choice of hotel, we've been three times and are planning a fourth visit...

Now, first question - are you going "Concierge"?

The rooms are pretty much all the same, east side (Sunrise) or West side (Sunset)... NONE has a sea view, some have garden views out the back towards the beach (but these are Concierge rooms)

Excursions... we did a great Catamaran trip, which included a visit to Cienfuegos to swim with the Dolphins (better than the Varadero one)

Also there is the Evening outing to the Tropicana in Varadero, but the overnight stay in Havana is good, where the Tropicana is the original and best...

Dress code? - LONG (NOT cut-offs) Trousers and CLOSED TOE shoes (NOT sandals) AND COLLARED (NOT T-Shirts) for the men at the Restauramts in the evening...

Currency? - Take ££ and convert at the hotel (check the exchange rate AND count your cash before you walk away!!)

Feel free to pm me with any other specific questions...

Hi Merseygull,

No we r not staying concierge, however we did price this up andThomas Cook wanted an extra £168.00 pp on top of what we have already paid and i did email the hotel to ask them if there was a possibility that we could upgrade when we arrived and asked how much exra we would need to pay but have yet to hear from them and i emailed them over a week ago.

When you say that the men need to wear long pants do you mean that they do not allow 3 quarter pants in the restaurants and also do you mean a full shoe i.e no toes showing and a shirt is required to ?

Is the rate good at the hotel for the currency and r the excursions reasonably priced ?

Thanks for all your help - Elaine

You may upgrade when you arrive no problem i believe the concierge is an extra 30 dollars a day well worth it may i add.

Yes, yes and Yes...

Louise, the link on the right is accurate...

I found the exchange rate at SRH comparable with the airport and bank in Varadero...

Worth going Concierge... you'll get a minibar stocked DAILY, and You can book all the specialist restaurants in advance at the Concierge suite, and there's the Concierge cocktail party weekly...

Great choice picking Sandals, you will love it, we're going again at the end of the month.

Long pants & closed shoes are required for the Al Carte's restaurants.

Currency exchange at the Hotel, but as, merseygull stated, count your cash before you walk away.

Have fun.

Elaine, haven't stayed at Iberostar Varadero...

Have stayed at Iberostar Parque central in Havana - first class!!

All I can say is that having walked the length of the beach at Varadero, SRH definately has the best strip!!

Please feel free to pm me for specifics...
