We are 2 middle aged couples (young at heart and fit and active, so far!!) can anyone advise on best location to stay. We are going in Jan/Feb next year and it will be our first time in Cuba. We would also like to do a 3 - 4 day trip as well as 10-14 days at beach resort. Are Thomas Cook the people to go with?

Look forward to lots of comments!! Thank you.

1. Re: Location

I have read on here that many people from the UK use the "Holiday Place" to book trips to Havana and stays in Varadero Resorts.

http://www.theholidayplace.co.uk/ and use Damien as a travel agent.

2. Re: Location

Flying direct from the UK the only options are with Thomas Cook, from Gatwick and Manchester or Virgin Atlantic from Gatwick. Virgin only fly into Havana whereas Thomas Cook fly to Holguin from both Gatwick and Manchester and into Cayo Coco and Varadero from Manchester.

You can also use The Holiday Place as stated in the previous post. They will mostly use Virgin Atlantic flights.

3. Re: Location

We used The Holiday Place and flew with Virgin from Gatwick. What I liked about them is the huge range of hotels they use. The "package " we wanted was 4 nights at Nacional de Cuba in Havana followed by 10 nights at the Paradisus Varadero which wasn't available on their website, but they were happy to piece together exactly what we wanted. They also did a great job of organising our wedding for us too so I would happily use them again... however, Gatwick is a bit of a nightmare for us so to be honest it would be so much better if they also did flights out of Manchester.
