Car size

I'm not familiar with the roads/terrain on Curacao. Does it matter what size of vehicle I rent? Is a larger car or 4x4 a necessity to get around to the far reaches of the island?

Most places including beaches can be reached in a normal car. 4x4 not required

For our first trips to each of the ABC’s, we rented a 4x4. We still do on Bonaire, but not on Aruba or Curacao. On Curacao, it was nice to have when exploring Watamula on the west end, and along the north coast between Playa Kanoa and Sint Jorisbaai. We've been back 7 or 8 times since, and a small car (Kia Rio, Toyota Yaris) is been sufficient to visit the beaches, parks, etc. So, it depends how ambitious you are. If you’re the type that likes to explore every nook and cranny, then a 4x4 couldn’t hurt (except for the gas mileage @ almost $5 a gallon, and the higher rental cost). But for most, a car is just fine.
