SIM card for cell phone

We have a GSM phone and usually buy a local SIM chip for it to call home. Any advise on carriers in Cuacao and where we can purchase the chip? We would prefer a brand that is easy to add minutes to by a card or top up location. We find this usually saves a lot of money. Thanks

copter,

there are 2 gsm providers on the island.

UTS/Chippie and Digicell.

You should be able to buy a chip at any electronic stopres that sell phones.

Both Chippie's and Digicell's rates are the same locally. Don't know which is cheaper internationally though.

You can buy phonecards at every gasstation and snack, aswell as shops that have the sticker in their window that says that they cell phonecards.

You can also top off at any MCB atm.

Hope this helps,

Benji

It does help...we have quite a collection of phone chips now, but not either of those. Wish we had done digicell instead of b-mobile in Barbados and we'd be all set...alas. We are arriving Sunday afternoon. Are either of those available on a Sunday anywhere? Staying at the Marriott first 6 nights. Thanks

We have AT&T/Cingular. I suspect it will work, but at a high cost. We have learned to buy a local chip and usually calls to the US run 40-75cents minute. We have done this in Europe and Caribbean with reasonable success. If we have internet the whole time, we might not need it, but if we can get it at a reasonable price, we will. My first grandchild is due only 2 weeks after we get home.
