Where to stay in May

Hi everyone, my fiance and I are getting married in May and would like to visit Dominica for our honeymoon. We would like to do a few days at a laid back small hotel/b&b and a few days at an all-inclusive hotel. We both love nature and being in the water. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you.

cadiver1,

I know of no all-inclusive hotels on Dominica.

What you will find are some really good small hotels, cottages and b&bs.

I can recommend Sea Cliff Cottages (www.dominica-cottages.com/) near the village of Calibishie on the north east coast.

This place is wonderful-ask for one of the cottages on the ocean side of the road-they have better views.

If you love nature you could not have chosen a better destination-Dominica is an incredibly beautiful nature island-fairly untouched by mass tourism.

I do recommend that if you decide to stay at Sea Cliff that you rent a 4x4 jeep.

Sea Cliff is not really remote but is tucked a bit out of the way and to really see and appreciate the island you will need transport.

I can recommend Courtesy Car Rental which can be found at the Melville Hall airport. Thier web site is: http://www.dominicacarrentals.com/

They gave us a great Suzuki three door jeep and just as the name implies: excellent customer service.

If you do decide to stay at Sea Cliff and are arriving late into Melville Hall airport you may want to have your car delivered the next morning as not to pay the first day rental-they will be happy to do so-hench the name "Courtesy"

If staying at any self catering place (many are) you would do well to go the day after arrival to the capital of Roseau to stock up on provisions for the week as in the out laying areas of the island the selection of food stuffs is limited and basic. In Roseau there are a couple of larger grocery stores and the public market-ask which day is the big day at the market as it is worth seeing-in any case you need to go early in the day for the public market.

Have a great time-if you like nature you will LOVE Dominica!!!!!

By the way-you spoke of all inclusive-look for reviews here of Beau Rive (sp) or Jungle Bay-I think these places are not all inclusive but are a bit more luxury oriented and have restaurants but still being in the eco lodge catagory.

Is there any lodging on Dominica that wouldn't be considered laid back? I can't think of any. These establishments have an all-inclusive option:

Sunset Bay http://www.sunsetbayclub.com

Jungle Bay http://www.junglebaydominica.com

Might be a few other establisments out there.

Beau Rive isn't all inclusive but seems to be a nice place to hang out http://www.beaurive.com

Dominica isn't really an island aimed for the all-inclusive crowd as you might now have noticed. But it's a great place to visit, even if you have to arrange your own meals.

I enjoyed the stay at Sea Cliff. As noted, when self-catering, the best supply selection is in Roseau. Ditto on the 4x4 for a rental. I used and would recommend Island Car Rental.

I guess I should have included the website address for Sea Cliff to be consistent. I waited to long to edit my original response.
