Hire a private tour and see Titiou gorge, Emerald pool, ect.

You will be a lot happier on a private tour than packed on a cruise tour bus.

There is a lot to do and see its a beautiful island.

Go to www.avirtualdominica.com/ for some ideas of what to see and search this site for recommendations for drivers for you tour.

Such a pity to have only a few hours to see such an incredible island. But if

I had too, I'd sooner go off on my own than do the standard cruise ship tour. Just a few hours in Roseau is well worth it.

Thanks,

What would be the best way to arrange transportation. Are there buses at the dock that go to some of these places?

Barbara490-

Do a search on this forum for taxi drivers.

I personally rent a vehicle when on Dominica but we normally spend a week or ten days there and it makes sense to do that but do not recommend you rent a car as the driving is challenging to say the least and roads are not well marked so finding your way is not easy.

Find a driver with car here on this forum and prearrange your tour and they will meet you at the ship and deliver you back.

Check out www.avirtualdominica.com/ for places that you would like to visit then contact one of the recommended hire drivers you find and work out your itinerary.

To avoid the cruise crowds you may want to go directly off the ship to the more visited sites like Emerald Pool first so as to beat the cruise ship buses and have the place a little more to yourselves before the crowd hits.

There are a lot of beautiful sites to see so if you only have a few hours choose carefully your itinerary.

You will be blown away by the beauty of this island gem!!!

Hmmm... Dominica is a typical UN-beach island destination; the southern beaches aren't bad but not really on par with e.g. Martinique or St. Lucia. The nature and forests are almost unsurpassable however.

Our pick would be Emerald Pool, Trafalgar Falls, a sulfur hot spring (also in Roseau Valley, e.g. not that far from Trafalgar) and if that's your thing the Aerial Tram.

All the best,

Erik & Sandya,

Thanks so much for your response to our inquieries, I'm sure it will be helpful so as not to waist time ,since we have so little of while in Dominica. Also good to know not to waste our time looking for a beach, your suggestions sound great.

Thanks again,

Barbara
