Do a Google search under Student City or Sunsplash Tours. They organize Spring breaks for high school graduates. Grand Paradise have a contract with Student City for Spring breaks for 5 years. The Spring breakers did a lot of damage this year at Grand Paradise Punta Cana.

Thanks I will do that. I'm definatly not keen on this idea & she wasn't sent home with a whole lot of info, not to mention the fact that it is really expensive, not sure why.

These trips with Student City and Sunsplash Tours are probably well organized. But kids with booze and in large groups can be very rowdy. The reviews for these weeks at GP in PC were not good. Partying all night, high level of noise all the time, damage on the property, etc. I personally would not like to be there at the same time. But not all kids are the same, some are well behaved but are put in the same boat because of the other's actions.

My daughter attends a high school in New Brunswick & her grad class is also travelling with s-trip to Puerto Plata in March 2012. I have been researching s-trip all day & I am very sceptical. I can see why it appeals to the kids, because it's a parent-free, 7-day, drunk-fest. As a concerned parent, I do not want my 17-year-old daughter to go. However, she desperately wants to go and all of her friends are going. I am damned if I do and damned if I don't. :(

Well my daughter will be 17 next year when they go but I think her father & I have decided that she's not going, we had to make a decision fairly quckly because they want a deposit next week. Needless to say we told her tonight that she wasn't going & there was lots of screaming & yelling as she is thinks we're totally unreasonable, so be it! I think your totally right, it's just one big party.

From what is stated on this forum from people that have been there when the March Breakers are there seems to be that there is really No Supervision of the students. Underage drinkers (legal age in the DR is 18) yelling and carrying on until all hours of the night and day, rude and abnoxious behaviour. Kids being sick in the pools, and hallways of the buildings etc.

That is the reason that we will never travel when the Spring Breakers are around.

I told my daughter that she could not go today & she took the term temper tantrum to a whole new level. Her maturity level certainly showed. She was crying, screaming, cursing, slamming doors, swearing to attend a university far away from me, the works. Drama... Drama... Drama!!! I am sure she'll be relentless until next Thursday - the deadline for the $150 deposit.

I agree with all of you and even more, if my child, was living under my roof and I was financially responsible for him or her, 18 or not, I would not agree to such a trip. I know 18 is supposed to be an "adult" but if my child still depends on me, he/she is still my responsibility. I know I'm old fashion in that way but that is just for their own protection. I've seen those kids in action in the DR and it was not a pretty sight.

As Gutch2 says, "Just my 2 cents worth, take it for what it's worth"
