Cost of taxi from Airport to Gran Ventana would be approx $30 for 4 people & luggage.

As to the other question re: car rental . Most of us recommend that you do not rent a car. Driving in the D.R. is much different than driving at home ! Use other transport...either take a taxi, use local bus service.

Current cost is $35 for up to 4 people and luggage. The rates are posted on a board to your left as you exit the building.

If you really do want to rent a car even though its not advisable on your first visit to the DR as their driving is very erratic, no use of signals and pulling out with no regard to other users on the roads its crazy on their roads, no highway code as in our country, its a free for all in the DR. Make sure you get full insurance and don't rely on your home auto insurance or the insurance provided by your credit card. Make sure your insurance has "Casa de Conductore" on it. If you are in a major accident all parties go to jail till it can be sorted out ( but they will still find you the "gringo" at fault). With the Casa de Conductore you are sent to a hotel (not a 4 star ) till things are sorted as there will be people at the hotel to help with your insurance claim.

Besides what Angie has said driving in Santo Domingo is absolutely crazy. I won't even drive there. It is about a 4+ hour bus ride on a very nice modern very cold (great AC) bus. Then cab around the city.

It is a long way to go for a day and you should plan on spending a night in the colonial zone.

Best bus company from pp to sd is metro tour. The station is just off winston churchill in sd and well run + easy to get a taxi to your final destination. Another company is caribe tour but theytend to have more stops going into sd.
