First off, post this question in the bayahibe forum, you will get alot more responses...

I think the beach is better at the IHD . If you like to walk the beach, Ihd share the beach front with 5 other hotels. The beach varys with some coral some sandy spots.

All resorts in the DR are open to its citizens. Its a business.

Yes, you might encounter some locals on the weekends, and cruise ship passengers during the week as well.the resorts, dreams included, offer a daypass. Daypass access runs from 10am to 6 pm.

Nobody from the public beaches is allowed to go to the resort, only the people that buy day pass or are guests at the resort. All the resorts sell day passes for cruise ship passengers or anybody who is interested, but that doesn't mean the resorts are flooded by day passers. The passes are quiet expensive, most people prefer to go on excursions or spend the day on the beach, enjoying the local atmosphere instead of going to a resort. They have all the comfort on the cruise ship :)

Iberostar all the way= Dreams is getting a lot of bad reviews lately about quality of food and service and its apparently down to the fact that they have recently been sold! Iberostar has great reviews and is consistently providing good service

My Vote is Dreams. We were there in January 2013 and booked for January 2014. This is the only resort that i have chose to go back to two years in a row. The food was Great imo and the staff well you just cant find better attenitive staff> Iris and Louis are hands down two of the best ladys i have had the pleasure dealing with. The beach was Beautiful and we did walk into the town of bayahibe for a little shopping and a couple beers at a local place. There is something to do day or night for all ages.

From Iberostar you can just walk along the beach to Dominicus, but not much happening there, your best bet would be to go to Bayahibe - 5 minute ride, the taxi is 10 USD one way or guagua, the local transportation is 25 pesos per person one way, but they do not run at night. So for going out at night your only choice is a taxi. Bayahibe has many restaurants or bars to choose from, many of the located by the sea so it's great to watch sunset and sip a cold drink.

The Pit Stop is a great bar on the main road between Bayahibe and Dominicus, every night something happening there, they call it "The Last Stop - The Pit Stop" because everybody goes there when all the other restaurants close.

You can see what is happening around Bayahibe on Facebook - Bayahibe Calendar https:/…app_101709316537832

All the bars and restaurants take US dollars, so you don't have to have pesos.
