With only beauty and fun requirements, you can stay at almost any of the higher rated resorts.

As you read the posts, you will find most of us have our favorite resorts. From personal experience, I would recommend any of the following:

Iberostar Bavaro

Melia Caribe

Palladium Bavaro

Of the three, my favorite is the Palladium Bavaro. Many on this site have made multiple trips to this resort and the reviews speak for themselves.

It is difficult to choose, but PC is so beautiful, you will have a wonderful vacation no matter where you decide to stay.

To get more accurate answers/suggestions you need to be a bit more specific about the resort you are looking to stay at.

Please list the three most important things on your wish list apart from beauty & fun

I would put the Majestic, Excellence and the new Gran Bahia Amber in that category.

If I may butt in with my own inquiry. I'd love input on where to stay. Two years in a row we have gone Thanksgiving week and want to do the same again. PC truly has the most beautiful beach I have ever seen! And we love the relaxation of all-inclusive. We have stayed at the Majestic and at Ocean Blue and loved both and would want approx the same quality, but enjoy trying new places. We want simply to relax by the pool and on the beach - we don't need nightlife at all. Friendly bartenders, decent buffet (including mimosas at breakfast), plenty of shade at pool and beach are our top priorities. We enjoy the specialty restaurants, but they are not a priority. We loved the coffee shop at Ocean Blue, by the way, but don't expect to find that elsewhere necessarily. We have been looking at EdenH, but are open to other suggestions. Thanks!

I certainly suggest you have a look at Punta Cana's #1 Resort [based on TA's Popularity Index], Excellence which as an added bonus is adult only.

Excellence is a class act and although some say it is expensive they have no problem getting people to go there - in life you get what you pay and for most of us want any holiday or vacation to be something special and trouble free.

The one thing that is certain you will be made to feel very special indeed and you will take away many happy memories.

We went there last September and loved it, so much so, that we are going back this September and cannot wait to get back. We have also been to their other two resorts in Mexico and love those as well.

If you have a look at the reviews and TA own Travelers Choice Awards for 2008 you will see I am not alone in thinking it is a great place:

tripadvisor.co.uk/pdfs/tca/TravelersChoiceAw…

you will see that Excellence Punta Cana came:

#3 in "The 25 Most Popular Destinations - World"

#1 in "Best Pool in Latin America/Caribbean"

#7 in "Best for Romance - World"

#3 in "Best for Romance - Latin America/Caribbean"

If you have a look at my review and the 40

photographs which are attached you will get a good feel for what it is like.

Their website can be found at:

excellence-resorts.com/all-inclusive-resorts…

Yes, Excellence is a little remote/isolated, about an hour and a bit from the airport, so what - it is a class resort. Please be aware that if you want to go on any trips or go shopping you in will involve some travel – it is the sort of place that people go to and stay on resort so if you are not that sort of person Excellence may not be for you.

The beach at Excellence is great but the ocean can often be rough and is often red/black flagged so if you want a resort where you can swim in the ocean a lot again Excellence is not the place for you.

As far as the entertainment is concerned it is not what I would call lively as most people are there to chill out and have a romantic time so if you are looking for a resort with more action this may not be the place for you.

In addition to the entertainment here is live music every night and they also have a disco and casino on site as well.

There are a few other Adult Only Resorts which are cheaper and a little closer to the airport - some of these are what I call "bolt ons" as they are a component of another larger resort and in my view are no where near as good as Excellence.

Thanks so much FlipFLop man. I will indeed take a look and enjoy doing so so thank you! I do like to play in the waves and would be a bit disappointed if the beach was flagged, but otherwise this sounds perfect. We do not go off the property. Throughout the year, we take other vacations where we sightsee, etc. but in PC all we want to do is relax! As you have suggested, price is what has kept us from looking in the past. But I'm going to take a closer look.

Any other thoughts, anyone??

The beach will be flagged some days but there is calmer water either side of the resort. However, if you do go off the resort you will be out of sight of others who would be able to assist if you did still get into difficulties.

The ocean should always be treated with respect

Thanks again, flipflop man, and I agree about respecting the ocean. I only go in if it is fun hopping up and down kind of waves - I am no hot dog! If I could ask another question - about the adults only resorts. I travel with my sister and while the idea of no children is fine, I wonder if we would feel out of place in an adults-only resort because it is mostly couples and focuses on romance? It is another aspect that has caused me to hesitate even though adults-only appeals to me in all other respects.

I would also suggest Excellence Punta Cana. The other resort that I really like in Punta Cana is Paradisus Palma Real, however it is not adults only.
