Anyone been to the Iberostar Bavaro?

Hi,

Looking at booking the Iberostar Bavaro in January...not seeing much activity about this resort on Trip Advisor???

Anyone been there? How was it? and how were the two other resorts that are on the complex?

We are also looking into the Melia Caribe Tropical.

Hard to pick.....

Sorry for so many questions.

Hola L. Not sure what the differences are between the Melia and the Iberostars but I do know how much I enjoy the Iberostar Bavaro, just got back actually and I'm going again in 131 days for our 5th visit.

Do you have any specific questions? You can also do a search, there's been lots posted regarding both resorts.

Cheers,

Debbie.

Ok if my memory serves me correct this is a truly Spanish resort with almost no North American guests.

I might be thinking of the Cuba location and confusing the two. Even a travel agent didin't recommend it for that reason.

Can someone confirm this?

"Do you have any specific questions? "

Do you have a rough estimate of English speakers on the resort? I can't remember if this resort was heavily, heavily European or not.

What the heck are you talking about MD? Have you done ANY research? Why would you remember...you weren't there?

Why does this matter so much to you. Go read some reviews of different resorts then come back and ask questions or go rely on your travel agent.

I have NEVER had a problem with interacting with any nationality on or off the resorts. If you read my previous posts sometimes all it takes is saying Buenos Dias to someone or even just a smile and a nod. We have made many friends at the resort of all nationalities.

Cheers,

Debbie.

We are going coming down with 4 other couples and have looked in the Iberostar Bavaro...looks beautiful.

How are the rooms? The grounds look very lush and green, very tropical with birds running around from what I am seeing from the web site pictures.

We stayed at the Majestic Colonial last year and loved it, but this year wanted to try another resort....for something different.

L, it is a very beautiful resort and you are right, the 2-storey villas are surrounded by lush tropical grounds that are immaculate and there are lots of peacocks, swans, ducks etc. wandering around freely. The rooms are all the same with a sunken living room area with 2 sofa seating areas and another one on the balcony/patio. You have access to the other 2 Iberostar resorts including their restaurants, bars, entertainment, casino, disco etc. I think in total there are about 8 or 9 bars and about 11 restaurants. Their claim to fame is pleasing their guests. If you 'd like a link to some of my albums please PM me and I'll be glad to pass it on to you.

Cheers,

Debbie.

Hi

I've stayed at both of the resorts you are considering.

No matter which one you choose, you will have a wonderful vacation as they are very nice resorts.

We did like the pool better at the Melia Caribe. Iberostar Bavaro had 24hr. room service included, Melia did not. Both have awesome beaches, food and service were about the same.

The other two resorts at the Iberostar complex are also nice. The Bavaro section has the nice villas and is superior to the other sections. You can use all the restaurants, pools etc. in all three resorts.

Deb....we are flipping back and forth from the IB*B and the Palladium Palace...

Can you give me any comparisons between the two i.e. rooms, beach (I am not looking for how many "english speaking" patrons at this resort)...I personally like all nationalities and have no trouble communicating with spanish speaking people..

Pattirose, honestly I can't answer that question, I haven't been to the Palladium.

But I'm sure someone else who's been to both can and it sounds like you'll fit in at both just fine ;)

Cheers,

Debbie
