Questions about Moon Palace Punta Cana

This is for anyone that has been to this resort. My husband and I have been to sveral palace resorts in Mexico. We are looking for something different. Questions: 1. I love piña coladas...do the have blenders at the pool and beach bars? How are the piña coladas? 2. How is the beach? Clear water? No seaweed? 3. How are the rooms? 4. How much of the resort is still under construction? Thanks for any info!!!

I've been to the resort but never stayed but I hope I'm still qualified to try and answer your questions, especially seeing that no one else has!

They actually have a piña colada dispensa at the lobby next to reception when you check in, how cool is that, you just help yourself but if you like it with a splash of Rum then you need to skip along to one of the many bars; the pc's are lush believe me and blenders are at the bars at all 13 pools

The sea is a a little brava as they say here but a wonderful beach & ocean and always an invigorating sea spray. The red flag is the usual feature and lifeguards keep watch from a control tower on the sand. No seaweed spotted on my visit, maybe the lifeguards radio the gardners who drop tools and rush to extract it off the beach!

The rooms are large, cool and luxurious and there's even a selection of lighting settings to choose from to set the mood. You can call to the states free from your room which I think is just amazing. The jacuzzis are still controversial as they are flush with the floor and could be dangerous for kids or if you are prone to sleepwalking. My suggestion would be to have shiney wight tough fiberglass lids available to pop over them for anyone who doesnt like the open tub in the floor - but hey, what do I know - I'm just a wandering tourist!

The casino, they say, will open in Feb10 and will be the largest in the caribbean and the spa is a pure place of wonder.

I suspect an important, maybe earthshattering (in the tourist world anyhows) announcement, is expected any day now which will really put MPPC well & truely on the international map of 'must go to' places to visit.

I didn't stay there either but did walk past it several times a few weeks ago when staying 20 minutes down the beach. The beach itself is large and beautiful but we never saw anyone in the water over their knees. The surf was incredibly rough, even when just a mile down the beach it seemed fine. I don't see how the water could be clear considering how rough the surf was.

Not to diminish the impressive list of amenities this resort currently or eventually will offer but a fully functional oceanfront isn't part of the package.

Yes, the sea is white & surfy here it's a given - but still very beautiful

Maybe if you put some in an empty (rum) glass and let the waves calm a little it would be clear

I'll be there for two weeks.....January 13th thru the 27th. I'm disappointed that the casino will not be open yet.

After recently giving all of your money to the Indians in Connecticut Bob that might not be a bad thing ;-)

Seriously, looking forward to your opinion on the MP.

Ok, maybe not earth shattering after all but news is Hard Rock will be moving into Moon Palace and taking over some of the operations starting with the casino - in my eyes this is great for the resort and for the destination

Exactly, or Bali or Pattaya

Unconventional & contemporary is not everyone's cup of tea but it's certainly mine – tattooed and ponytailed staff never hurt anyone and HR certainly have got their act together.

At last a break from the regular hotel/casino format in PUJ. This has got to be great news for the destination. We will now get an opening date we can believe I guess.

I’m feeling like a rock star already ;~)
