Moon Palace

Any updates on the progress of Moon Palace by any recent visitors? Just curious on how far along is the golf course, casino, and disco and any indication when they will open? We were told by Palace Resorts that they would be open by our trip in January. However, based on some of the previous completion dates that weren't met, we are a little skeptical that they will be open by January. Any recent updates on the progress would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I just found this article: www.palaceresorts.com/Press/HardRock.asp

It appears that this property is going to be rebranded the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino sometime in Spring '10. I have reservations there in March, and seriously reconsidering at this point.

Why reconsider? The Moon Palace is still owned by Palace Resorts and I think the Hard Rock association will only enhance the property.

Hey,

We are coming in on May 7 for a week. We'll be the (2) couples at the hopping pool with all the floats. We are in our 50's/early 60's. Been Palace Premier members for 11 years and love it!! We are on the count down!!

How was your trip? We were just there recently as well and were not very impressed.

The resort itself is nice and holds a lot of promise for when it is all completed. However, the level of service ( we saw the chef come out of the kitchen 3 times during our stay there...he came out and got a plate of food and as he was bringing it into the kitchen he would pick off the plate , also saw waiters eating off a shared plate.... it looked very unprofessional), the food selection and quality were also sadly not up to the same standard as the other Palace Resorts. At one point, I just wanted to grab the spatula from the chef that was cooking my eggs, he tried to flip them but just kept fumbling. I have to say though that the desserts were great. That was the one thing that we found over at Cancun Moon Palace to be too sweet and just not very palatable. The desserts in Punta Cana seemed to be more like what we get here in the US.

One incident that really ticked us off was...we were told that we could call and they would send a cart when we needed to bring our golf clubs to the lobby...but when we did, we were told a straight out, "NO, just take the regular train"...the "train" which incidently does not come often enough and especially not when it is raining (yup, it rained a lot).

The buildings are built poorly ,..... when it rained, there were many leaks, water poured in from every where... even the elevator was gushing water.... a potential electrical hazard....if you ask me. Additionally, we have been members for 5 years and have never had any problems with theft, but this time, my son's ipod went missing from the room. It's just too bad... it's a beautiful resort, beautiful beach and great idea.
