Gran Bahia Principe, Punta Cana

golden club vs. run of the house reservation... 115$ more pp / 8 of us going... is it really worth it??? we are active people and easy going, easy to please w/ food... a big resort isnt an issue w/ walking BUT would like to be near pool and /or beach just for convience...

dont know what to do??? its 920$ for our group to upgrade...

thank you!!!

Neither. Go with the Ambar Section. Adults only, private pool. better liqour, beer and wine, right on the beach.

We were in the Golden section last year and enjoyed it very much. Close to the beach. This resort is excellent.

Valen,

If the cost is prohibitive per person, then stay where you are. All of the rooms are identical in the Punta Cana & Bavaro side of the resorts.

You did mention that you would like to be close to the beach and pool - the Golden section will provide that for you as the rooms are cloest to the beach and to the large pool next to the beach. You can also use the smaller pool about 1/2 way into the resort on the Punta Cana side as well. You do get an extra a la carte (thereby making it 4 a la cartes) and you will have 24 hour room serice, so it does come with some nice features.

You just have to weigh the costs versus the benefits - under $17 more per person per day.

I do hope that is is of help to you.

If you are easy to please and don't mind the big size of the hotel or using the main services (pools, restaurants), don't bother with the upgrade. We've been to GBP twice, not the golden section and we love the beach, so we sent an email to customer services requesting a room as close to the beach as possible and they gave us a room in the building next to the golden section. Of course it's just a request but if they can, they'll do it. The rooms are just the same.

Valen,

Yes, you can use the main pool by the beach - that is available for everyone - you do not have to have an upgrade to use it.
