Any questions for me?
Any questions for me?
We are heading there Aug 5th - 10th. Can wait. Looking forward to your posts.
Yes, our family of 4 will be at MP in 30 sleeps. I've been reading the posts religiously for months. Here's my questions: Will you be tipping housekeeping daily? Room service? Other times? What excursions are "included?" Is the casino enjoyable? Anything we should remember to bring, can we bring our own floats for the water and the pools? How big are the safes in the rooms, large enough for more than one laptop? What is the deal with the beds, why can't you get a queen instead of 2 twins? Just random things like that, anything you can advise for first timers to PC? Are you going on the timeshare tour?
I hope you have as good a TIME AS WE DID.
I have to second Bob.
reading the reviews for the Moon Palace and I am really concerned about the quality of this hotel. I am a Premier member and never had problems with any of the Palace resorts. Is this a safe resort? Please gime me as much info you can.
Can yoy tell me what wine they serve? Also can you compare it to other hotels you have been to?
Okay I will answer your questions as best as I can! :)
Tips are never expected, but giving a dollar here and there when you get wonderful service is my recommendation, it only benefits you, as it not only makes future service that much better, but makes you feel good. Try it, you'll see what I mean. :)
From what I can tell the excursions that are included are the "Dominican Experience" which is a tour outside of the resort, and the "Snorkeling in Paradise." There is supposed to also be a Animal Adventure Park but I haven't heard of anyone doing it and guest services didn't mention it, so I'm not sure it is open. I also found a brochure on a Horseback tour as well as something called "Moon Rocker Adventures," which looks to be another one like the Dominican Experience. The first 2 I mentioned are included, that I know.
The Casino has been so dead the entire time it's not even funny! Yes, it's fun but so "quiet!" VERY good service there, and you won't stand in line for much of anything. Slots aren't very loose at all.
Yes, you can bring your own floats, I would actually recommend that you do so. The pools are VERY nice. Clean, great music, and the bartenders and wait staff is excellent. No worries about getting a place to sit at the pools or on the beach! I recommend the pool close to building 5. :) The children's pool is fun, awesome slide and Miley/Jonas/Owl City/Bieber music playing, also a lazy river.
YES, the safes are big enough for 2 laptops. They are a pretty decent size!
I don't know anything about queen beds vs twin, as we have a king suite. I didn't know they had twin beds here, how odd!
I also don't know anything about a timeshare tour. (?)
For first timers to Punta Cana I must say, be prepared to have your breath taken away by the beach. It is TRULY paradise. Truly.
The locals are telling me there is almost always one in every group that experiences some "gastro issues," so bring some Tums, Pepto, or whatever makes the weak -stomach-haver in your bunch feel better. It may not happen, but it's best to be safe than sorry. I have been fine, even brush my teeth with the tap water (such a rebel!) but my husband has felt a little queasy here and there.
Bring some towel clips for your chairs, that breeze can sometimes blow them right off (and you WANT that breeze!)
Plenty of sunscreen (Don't forget a spray-in kind for your hair!)
More than one bathing suit, and some detergent so you can give the suits a little wash, (I put some in a few contact lens cases. Easy for travel and just the right amount!) There are little clothes lines in the showers for hanging them to dry, but things don't get completely dry in the bathroom (humid and no vents (?) So I hung mine over the side of the hot tub.
If you plan to make the hike to the outdoor market, be prepared to walk for what seems like forever and be sore the next day, LOL! We are in decent shape, and are sore from our walk yesterday. Is it worth it? I say yes, if you are a haggler. If not, stick to the hotel gift shops. The main things you won't find in the hotel gift shops that you WILL find in the bazaar are art, a better selection of t-shirts, CHEAP rum, some adorable wooden trinket boxes and a TON of jewelery (I found most of the jewelery to be ugly there) I got mine at the hotel jewelery shop. The Larimar and black coral are my favorite, and there you know it is real. Bring some cream for chafing if you think you'll make that walk, take along plenty of water and your own beach bag to put things in. We took breaks along the way in the shade at the other resorts.
Moon Palace has great lotion, shampoo and conditioner in the room, (All Biosilk) so don't bother unless you need something special. They also provide sewing kit, cotton balls, q-tips, emery board, shoe polish, and shower cap. The soap is even decent.
DO bring some Off. How much you are bitten by mosquitoes depends on YOU. I am being bitten but hubby is not. No signs of Malaria yet, but I could only hope to be quarantined in paradise. ;-)
Anything else? :-)
Not that I would be running around the beach in the darkness without my husband with me, but I can say that I have not felt the least bit unsafe here during my stay. I took off today in the afternoon and did some walking alone, always felt safe. There are workers and cart taxis all around the grounds if you need them.
The resort is HUGE and you can literally feel like you're the only ones here at times. We have enjoyed the quiet.
They have SO many wines I couldn't even begin to tell you! Very good selection from what I can tell.
In comparison to other hotels I have stayed in? Gosh, this is hard because it's far from any hotel. We have been treated very well and I am SO in awe of Punta Cana itself that I am high on life. Ha! Honestly, it has been an awesome experience for us, and I don't want it to end. Requests have all been honored, room service is excellent, only one day where the maid skipped our room but that was OUR fault because we were still getting ready when she came by. It's just not a big deal to us, we got towels and everything we needed at turn-down time. You sleep like a BABY while here, so quiet and the room is nice and cool. Just can't complain. :-)
Thank you.Our teenage daughter is going with us and my concern is mostly for her.
Would you go back to this property?
