What kind of things do you like to do? There are lots of bars/resturants close by off the resort. Get pesos out of the ATM at the resort if you do this (its in the sports bar). Go to the beach and take a right - you will come to some shops (they are aggressive - haggle with them or tell them no thanks and keep walking). Next to the huts are Captain Cooks (seafood) Palma Sands, and a new place called the Greek Sports bar. On the street behind the beachfront bars there is a place called the Sports Bar - just a hut with some tables and cold beer. Further down the beach there are several bars and resturants, condo complexes, etc. Look for Soles, Bamboo bar, Hurricane Cafe, just to name a few.

For organized excursions your tour rep will have all that information for you.

We stayed at the Palladium in January. Good food and friendly staff. The rooms need a major update though, at least in the 3000 building.

Heres a link to an informative web site. Be sure to select 'Punta Cana' from the destination tab!

Rena2007

contrary to hage2 says , do not get peso's from the ATM use small denominations of US$.

Bring them from home Cartersville

US$ still is King in Punta Cana.

The rest of the info is OK, do not miss out on going to Hemingways which is behind the Palladium Bavaro lobby.

I have been to the Palladium 7 times..

I was about to suggest Hemmingway's also for a nightcap, some cards, or board games. But on the resort map it is called "Cocktail Bar" or something like that. The live entertainment in the lobby was sometimes just enough. There is more of a production show in the theatre on your way to the Bavaro side. There is a whole sports court area also. The area to the right of the resort is called el Cortecito and there are a few non aggressive fixed prices boutiques and stores. Cusie boutique, Los Pinos Plaza, and don't forget the grocery store for coffee and rum. You can also head down the drive of the complex and arrive in the Plaza Bavaro area for other great finds and the Tower Casino.

Most of the off resort bars and resturants are a lot cheaper if you use pesos. They do take us dollars too.

We are going to the same resort in June. The photos of the new kids club look great but seem to be more suitable for younger kids so your daughter should love it!

Hope you have a great vacation!

@dropusaline, do you know the name of the grocery store and can we walk along the beach to get there? Would you recommend buying good rum there to bring home? I think rum at the airport's duty free is comparatively expensive, is that correct?

The resort has sooo much to do that you don't even have to leave to stay occupied...the animation staff (people of palladium) are always out to entertain, there's great nightly shows, lots of sports and watersports and of course hemmingways in the evening....Have fun...we will be there from march 28th-April 4th!

Los Pinos can be accessed via the beach, face the ocean turn right and walk to Captain Cooks, cut through the alley and find Los Pinos directly across the road, good spot to buy rum and there is a super mercado next door (Amalie).

Rum in the airport duty free is a scam since there is no duty in the DR,

buy where locals buy and save dollars, likely 1/4 the price for the same rum.
