Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe opinions

So my wife and I got bumped from Ocean Blue & Sands to BBPD. I'm not really upset because I found out ahead of time, but was wondering what you here on the forum thought of this resort?

We've stayed at Majestic twice, Eden H, Royal Beach and Ocean Blue in the past. This was going to be a return trip to Ocean Blue & we were really looking forward to it.

It's basically the same stretch of beach - right? Any insight would be great we head down in 10 days and haven't had the chance to do our usual research...

The beach there is fantastic. You won't be disappointed by the beach. It's on the original Bavaro stretch. Beautiful!

Well, it's second-hand info, as I have not been there, but my bf and her boyfriend were there in Feb. of this year. They loved it!! She said it was clean, "marbly" and gorgeous. They were in building 6 (I think) and said the room was beautiful - said it still smelled "new".

She's a bit of a "foodie" (owns her own restaurant) and said they preferred the buffets to the a la cartes...

She said the beach was incredible, as was the staff. There was chair-saving but it didn't bother them too much. She said she'd definitely go back.

Again, sorry for the second-hand info, and only her opinion, but maybe that helps a bit??

If you're a golfer - bring your clubs. Great course on site.

Yes - you can rent clubs - but is about $50. (they seem to post only visitor rates for the clubs on their website - so maybe slightly cheaper but I would expect at least $40)

A cart is mandatory and price varies depending on season (35-50) - so it can become a bit pricey if you are going to golf more than once.

We are looking at this resort, but thought I read somewhere that the beach was about 1/4 mile from the Family Suites, can anyone confirm if this is true? We like the layout of having two bedrooms so we dont have to take a chance on getting interconnecting rooms with our kids

Hi Matfel -

You can get a better idea of the relative distance of the rooms to the beach and measurements from this

wikimapia.org/…b

The image is before all the renos are complete - but the rooms back from what is labeled as 'Caribe' are now the 'family suite' rooms (2 level geared for families with children which I think is what you are talking about)

The rooms in the area that was labelled as 'Casino' are now 'golf view' rooms and they have family inter-connecting rooms.

If you scroll along the left you can gauge the relative distance to the beach from other resort rooms. I know people often mention these rooms as being far from the beach - but I've never understood why when a 5-10 minute walk from the room to the beach is not uncommon.
