Re: casinos

First time to DR, just how are the casinos? Can you use US money? Any other info would be appreciated.

Thank you

You use US money at all the casinos I've been to.

You can use USD or pesos. Your table stakes will be lower with pesos. As an example the BJ table mayhave a minimum bet of $5 US or 100 pesos. So much cheaper and you money will last longer if using pesos. In the end the house will have it all be it pesos or dollars.

Bob if you were answering my post. I have found this to be true (lower table stakes in pesos) in every casino we have been to here.

Talk to someone who knows the "tricks", every time I've been to PC our Apple Rep reads off a list of "BEWARE OF" things about the casino. Truthfully I don't go to casino in PC, we have much nicer ones at home. :-)

So I didn't make note of the details, but I do recall that they specifically warned people to NOT play two certain games (?)

I think the warnings were for keno and caribbean poker, but not positive about that, surely someone who was actually going to go there to gamble heard the same warnings and will share here.

The Apple Reps mentioned it every time we've been at Bavaro Princess, which has the Tower Casino right there.

I played blackjack at the casino at the Catalonia two weeks ago. I stood there and watched the dealer make sure that no one had to walk all the way over to the cashier to cash in chips after they got up from the table. She was cleaning everyone out. I finally sat down, and was lucky to walk away $10 richer after about 20 minutes of battling my way back from the brink of bankruptcy.

They had two bj tables open, a $5 & $15. The $15 had one person playing....the $5 had people waiting in line to get a seat. I'll never understand that.
